Michael Keith Moody was born on September 21, 1974 in Jackson, MS to Tommy B. and Sharon Grayson Moody. Michael graduated from Jackson Christian Academy and enrolled in Jackson College of Ministries. Afterward, he worked for his father, Tommy, at Guaranteed Roofing and in 1998, Michael began his own residential roofing business. In February of 2022, in order to better serve his clients as he had for many years, Michael closed his company, Deep South Roofing, and joined with the family business, Guaranteed Roofing.
Michael excelled at whatever he was involved in, especially sports. As a young man, he enjoyed playing basketball and was known as a fierce competitor in Handball. One of the sports Michael was most passionate about was the game of golf. Having made a "Hole in One" 3 times over the years, he had a talent for his long game and exhibited great skill on the green as well. Many happy hours were spent and great memories made on golf courses in the greater Jackson area as well as areas abroad by Michael, his son Grayson and their friends.
Besides golf and handball, Michael loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Although he enjoyed deer hunting and harvested many prize Bucks, perhaps his greatest love for hunting really began at the age of 4 when his father took him Coon Hunting. Michael was a very active member of the Professional Coon Hunters Association and was proud to have organized the largest Coon Hunt in the history of the Professional Kennel Club. Through the years, Michael earned many awards and titles in his beloved hobby as well as making life long friends with the same passion, near and abroad. Loved by everyone who met him, Michael was a bright spot in our world and was a shining example that great Godly men still exist. He was a member of The First Pentecostal Church of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Burl and Esther Moody, as well as his maternal grandfather, Leon Grayson.
Michael's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those that loved him most. They include his children, Grayson and Caroline Moody, along with their mother and his best friend, Crystal Moody, all of Terry; his mother and father, Tommy B. and Sharon Moody of Byram; his sisters, Darla Patrick (Steve) of Pearl, Renee Joiner (Larry) of Terry; his maternal grandmother, Joyce Grayson of Tuttle, OK and his best friend, Joey Parker (Lisa) of Terry. Michael also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews as well as the many friends he made an impact on during his journey here.
