William Lance Russell

Funeral services for William Lance Russell will be conducted at 5:00 PM Sunday evening, August 13, 2023, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the R & W Cemetery in Silver Creek.  The Reverend Earl Clark will officiate. Mr. Russell, age 52, passed away Friday morning, August 11, 2023, at the Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello.  Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

The Russell family will receive friends Sunday, August 13, 2 hours prior to the funeral service from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home.

Lance will be carried to his final rest by Ashley Watson, Tony Watson, Todd Harrell, Ron Kinard, Mitch Uzzle and Gary Shivers.  Honorary Pallbearers include Andrew Riojas, Colton Riojas, Aiden Uzzle, Eric Adkins, and Tim Flynt.

William Lance Russell was born on October 1, 1970 in Prentiss to Daniel Edward, Sr. and Linda Watson Russell.  After graduation from Simpson Academy, Lance enrolled in the Hinds Community College.  After graduating from Hinds, he moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he was employed by Ingalls Shipbuilding.  While at Ingalls, he served an apprenticeship and mastered his craft, becoming a Certified Electrician.  After several years on the Coast, Lance moved back home to Silver Creek and worked as an electrician for AT&T before taking a position as an electrician with Danos Incorporated.  Working at Danos proved to be very fulfilling, allowing him to do the work that had mastered. while working on his favorite offshore platform, The Bullwinkle.  In his pastime, Lance also enjoyed playing golf and was also a huge fan of the Pittsburg Steelers as well as the Mississippi State Bulldogs.  A family man that had grown closer to God in the past year, Lance was a devoted husband and loved his daughter and sons very much.  A shining example that good men still exist, he will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Edward Russell, Sr., a son, Timothy Holliday, Jr. and his niece, Jacy Riley.

Lance's memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.  They include his wife, Kala Russell of Silver Creek; his daughter, Scarlet Daley (Gage) of Brookhaven; 2 sons, Andrew Riojas and Colton Riojas, both of Silver Creek; his mother, Linda Russell of Silver Creek; 2 sisters, Pam Smith of Silver Creek, Amy Riley of New Hebron; 1 brother, Daniel Russell, Jr. of Lucedale and his mother-in-law, Dawn Cody of New Hebron.  Lance also leaves to mourn his passing a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
