Sue A. Jackson was born on October 17, 1948 in Hazelhurst to Sidney and Helen Douglass Thompson. Susie’s life was filled with passion, creativity, and an unwavering love for children. Raised in the close-knit Centerpoint Community in Copiah County and attending Antioch Baptist Church in her earlier years enriched Susie's character. Growing up within this nurturing community instilled within her values that shaped the exceptional woman she became—a woman whose generosity knew no bounds and whose impact extended far beyond any limits.
Susie’s career as an award-winning Longarm Quilter brought joy and beauty into the lives of many. Her talent for quilting was unmatched, with every stitch telling a story and every pattern reflecting a piece of her soul. She poured her heart and soul into her work, creating masterpieces that will be cherished for generations to come.
Not only was Susie a gifted quilter, but she was also incredibly artistic in other aspects of her life. Her flair for decoration was unparalleled, bringing an unmatched sense of style to every space she touched.
Susie's involvement in her community extended beyond her artistic pursuits. At Bunker Hill Baptist Church, she dedicated herself to spreading joy through various activities. Assisting with Vacation Bible School allowed her to share her love for children and impart invaluable lessons of faith and compassion. Additionally, the church blossomed under Susie’s care as she meticulously arranged flowers that adorned the sanctuary. Her arrangements served as a visual representation of the love she held for both God and those around her.
While Susie accomplished many remarkable feats throughout her life, one of her proudest accomplishments was not limited solely to quilting; painting was another talent she possessed. Her ability to bring life to a blank canvas was mesmerizing. With each brushstroke, she possessed the remarkable gift of capturing emotion and beauty, allowing others to experience the world through her eyes.
Susie married her sweetheart, Billy W. Jackson on May 2, 1981 and he brought to this union 3 children. Sadly, Billy passed away in 2018.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is also preceded in death by her sisters, Karen Reynolds, Judy Lea and her brother, Booky Thompson.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Angie (James) Fagan of Bassfield; her brother, Kevin Thompson of Hazelhurst and her grandchildren, Abigail Fagan and Will Fagan.
