Funeral services for Mrs. Sheila A. McLendon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at New Chapel United Pentecostal Church, with Reverend Ken Hickman officiating and Reverend Jack Andrews assisting. Interment will follow in the New Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. McLendon, age 67, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Friday morning, April 4, 2025, at her home in Carson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends 2 hours before the funeral service Tuesday, beginning at 9:00 AM at New Chapel United Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. McLendon will be carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers, they include Dawson McLendon, Dylan McLendon, Anthony McLendon, Ashton McLendon, David Terrell, and Tony Beavers.
Shelia A. McLendon was born on January 15, 1958, to Edward E. and Cherilene Fuller Redd. A lifelong resident of Jefferson Davis County, Sheila worked many years as a Certified Medical Assistant at the Covington County Hospital Clinic. In addition, she also worked at Hudson Drugs and Freds Dollar Store, where she made many friends during her time there. Sheila also will be remembered for her talent in the kitchen. Many people through the years have been the recipients of her beautiful and delicious wedding and graduation cakes. However, her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren. Whether it was school activities or sporting events, she was always present to support and cheer them on. Mrs. McLendon was a member of New Chapel United Pentecostal Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward E. and Cherilene Redd; her infant brother, Terry Redd and sister, Mary Frances Hamilton.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of nearly 50 years, Robert McLendon of Carson; sons, Robert E. McLendon (Charity) of Carson, Chris McLendon (Kim Martin) of Columbia; sisters, Sue Beavers, of Brandon, Diane Flowers of Collins, Cherry Hamilton of Carson, Buddy Redd (Christie) of Columbia and her grandchildren, Dawson, Dylan, Malcolm, David, Anthony, and Ashton.
