Ruth M. Bayles was born on February 16, 1936 in Lawrence County, Mississippi to Billy and Exer Carson McNeese. Mrs. Bayles worked for MCX in North Carolina and Edward Hyman and the Jeff Davis Farmers Co-op in Prentiss for 18 years. “Nanny”, as she was called by the many that adored her, was cherished by her family and friends alike. She will also be fondly remembered for her passion for scrapbooking. Nanny dedicated countless hours to crafting beautiful collections for each of her children, grandchildren, and most of her great-grandchildren, highlighting their accomplishments and milestones throughout their lives. These treasured keepsakes reflect not only her artistic talent but also her deep devotion to her family.

Nanny was particularly known for her scrumptious baking. Her yellow layered chocolate cake, adorned with rich chocolate frosting, once earned her a commendable second place in a 4-H baking competition. This delightful cake became a family favorite, eagerly anticipated at gatherings, where friends and family would come together to celebrate the love and warmth that she brought into their lives. In addition, Nanny was always mindful of others, often presenting her friends with newspaper clippings that featured them in the spotlight, showcasing her never ending thoughtfulness. Mrs. Bayles was a member of Dublin Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bayles is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Bayles; her son, Steven M. Bayles; brother, Bud McNeese and sister, Irene McNeese.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her son Scott M. (Melissa) Bayles of Brandon; daughters, Sandra (Joe) Amato of Lutcher, LA, Terri Speights of Prentiss; brother, Gerald McNeese of Prentiss; sisters, Judy Tagert of Columbia, Sue Polk of Carson; seven grandchildren, Christy (Jason) Ainsworth of Sumrall, Amanda (Lynn) Roussel of Paulina, LA, Lindsay (Pat) Rome of Paulina, LA, Bessie (Jake) Russell of Monticello, Kyle Bayles of Brandon, Joseph (Brooke) Amato of Lutcher, LA, Kelsey Bayles of Brandon, MS; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Beehive of Brookhaven, Compassus Hospice, Trend Health and Rehab, and Dr. Tonjia S. Lang for the compassionate care given to Mrs. Bayles.
