Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of His saints. Psalm 116:15 Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 10:00 AM at the New Hebron Cemetery for Mrs. Jean Lee Crawford. Reverend Mike Grenn and Reverend Earl Clark will officiate. Robbie ‘Jean” Lee Crawford, born into this world on August 29, 1925, to Walter Rufus Lee and Susie Ann Smith Lee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2020. Jean graduated from Wright Beauty School, Jackson, MS on March 22, 1946. She operated her beauty shop in Newhebron, MS, until around the middle of 2000. She always loved to give a “little fluff” to your hair to make it beautiful. Jean married Ottis Crawford on November 15, 1952. Although they had no children of their own, they loved their nieces and nephews to come visit them. Jean was an active member of the Newhebron Garden Club. She loved working in the flower beds around her home, and she also loved working in her vegetable garden. Many a day, you could see her outside digging with her “grub hoe” in her flower or vegetable garden even up until around her 90th birthday. Survivors include her sisters: Geraldine Lee Stephens of Clinton, MS, and Peggy Lee Grubbs of Brandon, MS, one brother, Herbert “Tobe” Lee of Brandon, MS and many nieces and nephews. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers: Ed Lee and Herman Lee; sisters: Mildred Lee, Claudell Lee Sherman, Mary Nell “Macy” Lee, Virginia Lee Ramshur Gallagher and an infant sister. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Newhebron Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Robbie “Jean” Lee Crawford. (Newhebron Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 37, Newhebron, MS 39140) The family would like to make special thanks to the Encompass Hospice Care, especially to nurses: Jessica, Jennifer, Patty, Aliza, Cheryl and others who came to assist with the care of Jean including Amanda (social worker) and Chaplain Mike and his handy guitar who sang songs with Jean on every visit. Also to Marissa who came everyday to bathe Aunt Jean.
