Funeral services for Mr. Otho McPhail will be conducted on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Dublin Cemetery. Reverend Marcus Burnham and Reverend Jimmy Harvey will officiate. Mr. McPhail, 84, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord late Sunday night at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Saulters Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Otho McPhail was born on August 10, 1937, in Jefferson Davis County to Monroe, Sr. and Bertha Whitehead McPhail. Otho and his beloved wife, Hazel, were the very best of friends and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. He took every opportunity to spoil his wife and children, lavishing them with love and attention. Many happy memories were made taking trips when the children were growing up. He worked many years in the oilfield and later farmed and drove a truck. Otho attended Dublin Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and also drove the church bus and picked up children for Sunday School. His family shared that he especially enjoyed watching Westerns...adding his own story line to the show. Otho was the definition of a True Southern Gentleman and will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. Mr. McPhail was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Bertha McPhail; his brothers, Walter, Leroy, Neville, Thomas and Monroe, Jr. McPhail; and also his sister, Dorothy Farnham. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel McPhail of Carson; 1 son, Wayne McPhail of Carson; 1 daughter Tammy (Chris) Hudson of Seven Points, TX and a brother, R.T. McPhail also of Carson. The legacy of their Grandpa will also live on through the grandchildren, Christopher Hudson, Hannah Hudson and Grace Hudson as well as 2 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 25, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
