Michael Lynn Merrell

New Hebron Funeral Services for Mr. Michael Merrell will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at New Hebron Baptist Church. Mr. Merrell, age 57, passed away from this life on Friday, August 23, 2019 in Jackson. Reverend Mike Grenn, Reverend Earl Clark, and Reverend Frank Harmon will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Hebron Cemetery. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Bobby Meadows, Scott Smith, John Little, Clint Lee, Terry Harper, and George Walker, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers include the Members of the New Hebron Fire Department, Fellow Employees of the Mississippi Department of Transportation; Rusty Thompson, Camille Rose, Lawrence Smith, Chris Brooks, John Brooks, Lamar Daley, Michael Polk, Daniel Polk, Brett Merrell, Kyle Smith, Chris Lewis, Dalton Barnett, Austin Jonakin, and Tucker Davis.                  Michael Lynn Merrell was born on July 25, 1962 in Birmingham, AL, to John Gilbert Merrell and Mary Frances Crawford Merrell. Mr. Merrell was a master mechanic for the Mississippi Department of Transportation and a New Hebron Firefighter. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Merrell was preceded in death by his mother and father; 1 brother, Bob Merrell; and his father-in-law, Jerrell Smith. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Geraldine Smith Merrell of New Hebron; 1 daughter, Maggie Lynn Merrell (Jacob Lowe) of New Hebron; 2 sisters, Paula McCaleb (Monty) of Flowood and Kimberly Polk of New Hebron; 1 brother, John Gilbert Merrell, Jr. of Charleston, SC; his mother-in-law, Mary Smith Ramsey (Hubert) of Hazelhurst; 1 brother-in-law, Lawrence Smith of New Hebron; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at New Hebron Baptist Church and on Tuesday  from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at New Hebron Baptist Church.
