Mr. Dyess passed away peacefully on February 28, 2022, at his residence in Carson, MS. Glynn Dyess was born on October 20, 1943 to the late William Floyd (Buck) Dyess and Aileen Miller Dyess of Carson, MS. He was a lifelong member of Greens Creek Baptist Church. He graduated from Bassfield High School and attended Pearl River Community College. On March 5, 1966, he married the love of his life, Joyce Rushing of Prentiss, MS and together they raised three children. He proudly served in the Mississippi Army National Guard with the 134th Engineer Company out of Prentiss, MS for 14 years. He fully enjoyed his time serving in the National Guard. Glynn spent his entire 50 year career in the oil and gas pipeline industry. He started out working as a laborer and rose steadily through the ranks of Superintendent to Construction Manager where he supervised projects all across the United States for various companies such as Banister, Fulgum and JB Miller, Inc. In 1992, Glynn started his own company, MG Dyess, Inc. in Bassfield, MS. Under his proud and experienced guidance until his retirement in 2016, MG Dyess grew and ultimately became recognized in the industry as one of the nation’s premier pipeline construction firms. Glynn was also an enthusiastic cattleman. Never one to do much of anything “small”, Dyess Farms/MGD Holdings became a nationally known cattle operation with Brahman and cross breed cattle. His show cattle won many national and regional awards. Glynn was a believer in community and service whether it was within his town, his county or his state. He loved the town of Bassfield, Jefferson Davis County and the state of MS and he was an enthusiastic supporter whenever it came to efforts to fundraise for organizations such as the FFA or Relay for Life. He also enjoyed serving the state of MS on various advisory councils at the request of former MS Governors Haley Barbour and Phil Bryant. Glynn was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Edd Dyess. Glynn's memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Joyce Rushing Dyess; two sons, Grant Dyess (Christi) and Mike Dyess (Rachel); one daughter, Jena McRaney (Greg); seven grandchildren, Brie Dyess, Addison Blair Dyess, Ashleigh Dyess, Kelsey Dyess, Geoffrey Dyess, Mattie McRaney and Mariah McRaney; three sisters, Janet Armstrong, Sarah Stewart, Dianne Saulters; and one brother, Ricky Dyess. Serving as Pallbearers are Hunter Dyess, Jeff Sudduth, Rob McCrary, Brandon Langston, William Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, Walt Clark and Brad Langston.
