Marcia Sue Jackson was born on November 24, 1941, in Bassfield, Mississippi, to Frances and Aurelia Kerley Cavanaugh. Marcia was a graduate of Bassfield High School, where she played basketball and also earned the title of homecoming queen. Her career began as an assistant teacher at Bassfield Elementary School, where she fostered learning and caring among her students. In 1987, she and her husband, Jimmy Dale, embarked on a new venture by opening J&J Market in Bassfield, a cherished establishment that became a landmark in the area. Marcia also owned and operated a flower shop from her home for over a decade, showcasing her passion for creativity and beauty.

Known for her talent in decorating, Marcia had a special gift for elegance. She decorated countless weddings throughout the years, leaving her personal touch of beauty at each celebration. Furthermore, her compassionate nature shone through as she designed floral arrangements for funerals, providing comfort and solace during times of sorrow. As a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Marcia dedicated her skills to beautifying the church and parish hall for various events.

Holidays held a special place in Marcia's heart, representing cherished moments spent with her family. Her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where her delicious cooking, including her prized dressing, dumplings, and potatoes with white sauce, created warm memories around the dinner table.

Above all her accomplishments, Marcia's proudest role was that of a "Nanny" to her grandchildren. Each of them carries treasured memories of time spent together, reflecting her generous spirit and boundless love. In addition to making each holiday seem magical with her festive decorations, there were magnificent surprises under the Christmas tree for each grandchild. They will also cherish memories of incredible trips and vacations with her through the years. Without question, her grandchildren knew they had the best Nanny a child could ever hope for.

Marcia Jackson will also be remembered as a woman of elegance, always dressed to the nines with impeccable hair, makeup, nails, and jewelry that showcased her distinctive flair. Her son recalls her deep devotion to faith and the importance she placed on attending church, a lesson that resonated throughout her family. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered for her grace, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
