Memorial services, with the observance of Full Military Honors, for Mr. Lester Joezeal "Joe" Berry will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Crooked Creek Baptist Church in Silver Creek, MS with Pastor Derek Chance and Brother Larry Davis officiating. Mr. Berry, age 82, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord late Saturday night, July 9, 2022, at the Diversicare Healthcare Services in Brookhaven, MS. Lester Joezeal Berry was born on April 8, 1940 in Simpson County, MS to Cabe S. and Martha Keen Berry. Joe was a true patriot, having served in the Mississippi National Guard, The United States Army and also the United States Air Force, where he retired after many years of service. He will be remembered for his passion for the outdoors, where he spent many happy hours hunting, fishing and running trot lines. In addition to spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Joe also enjoyed reading Westerns; his favorite author being Louis L'Amour. He was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his parents, Cabe S. and Martha Berry; a daughter, Winona Berry; 3 brothers, Cabe S. Berry, Jr, Earl Sexton Berry, Thomas Eual Berry; 4 sisters, Virginia Brabham, Louise Robertson Brent, Ina Belle Cottrell Embree, Pauline Armstrong and 1 great-grandson, Cabe Joezeal Pierce. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife of 15 years, Becki Berry of Silver Creek, MS; 2 daughters, Doris Little of Sardis, MS, Jannibeth Spear of Walker, LA; 1 son, Jory Scott (Chrissy) of Oak Grove, MS; 1 brother, James S. Berry of Byram, MS and 2 sisters, Esther Thornhill (James) of McComb, MS and Ellen Sills (Roland) of Pearl, MS. The legacy of their PawPaw will also live on through his grandchildren, Tonya, Tina, Liza, Alyssa, Kolton, Stephanie, Chris, Vicki, Tiffany, William and Wayne as well as his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Mary Grace, Lane, AylaMarie (PawPaw's Rat), Luna, Star, Emma, Hannah and Gage. He also leaves behind his 2 precious "fur babies", Mollie and Prissy. Memorials may be given in memory of Lester Joezeal Berry to the Wounded Warrior Project.
