Funeral services for Kenneth Ray McQueen will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Trent Sullivan will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Andy Gipson. Interment will follow in the Clearview Cemetery in Mendenhall. Mr. McQueen, age 90, passed away gently into the arms of his Lord and Saviour in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 7, 2024, at his daughter's home in Prentiss, surrounded by his children and grandson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, December 10, 2024, from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
Kenneth will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include James Bishop, Josh Broome, Robbie Booth, Gary Bounds, Kyle Neely, Clay Traylor, Keith Yawn, and Steven Yawn. Those serving as honorary pallbearers include Nathan Bridges, Kelson Hickman, Cole Newton, Madden Neely, Deacon Neely, and Lincoln Neely.
Mr. Kenneth Ray McQueen was born on August 11, 1934, in Covington County, MS. He graduated from Salem High School in 1953 and joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1956 and returned home to marry the love of his life, Virginia. Their union would last 50 years until her death in June 2006.
Kenneth was a salesman in the food industry. Over the years, he worked for Harts Bakery, Auto Chlor Systems, Royal Cup Coffee, Polk's Meat Products, and Schwans-Red Baron Pizza until his retirement. He gave his life to Christ in 1970, was ordained as a deacon in 1973, and surrendered to the ministry in 1975. He spent more than half his life serving the Lord and witnessing to others about salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. Known as Papaw and Poppy, he was very proud of his 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Booth McQueen; sisters, Evelyn Ainsworth and Patricia Shipp; brother, Keiffer McQueen; mother, Merle Graves; and grandparents, Alec and Ada McQueen.
His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Fran Bridges (Aaron) of Mendenhall and Jennifer Traylor (Randy Broome) of Prentiss; son Eddy McQueen (Vicki) of Pearl; grandchildren Hollie Bridges, Traci Bounds (Gary), Clay Traylor, Ashley Bishop (James), Jordan Neely (Kyle) and Allison McQueen. Kenneth also leaves behind great-grandchildren Nathan Bridges, Kara White, Kelson Hickman, Kenley Grace Hickman, Cameron Bishop, Jamie Bishop, Madden Neely, Deacon Neely, Lincoln Neely, Rivers Pittman, Virginia Newton, Cole Newton, and great-great-granddaughter Peyton White; sisters Miriam Ingram of Chandler, AZ, Sue Blackwell and Kim Kay of Hattiesburg, Tina Owen of Griffin, GA, Linda Sunderland of Brandon; brother Howard Yawn of Hattiesburg and a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
