James D. Holyfield

Funeral services for Mr. James D. Holyfield will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Don McClellan officiating, assisted by the Reverend Tim Robertson. Interment will follow in the Prentiss Cemetery. Mr. Holyfield, age 82, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 10, 2023, at his home in Silver Creek. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Landon Martin, Michael Nations, Mack Nations, Ray Fortenberry, Bill Robichaud, and Joey Jackson. James was born March 17, 1941 to the late Houston and Lorene Holyfield Allen. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, over the years he worked as a farmer, a mechanic, and for Shell Oil Company. He loved working outdoors, baling hay, restoring tractors and working in his garden. Most of all, James enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Houston Holyfield; mother, Lorene Culpepper Holyfield , stepfather, Dale Allen, and brother Joe Holyfield. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Rushing Holyfield; daughter, Lisa Holyfield Robichaud; grandson Zachary Veney; and a host of other family and friends.
