Mary Helen McRaney was born on September 28, 1945 in Jefferson Davis County to Reggie and Lurlene Cliburn Lee. A lifelong resident of the Whitesand Community, Mrs. McRaney graduated from Prentiss High School. She then attended cosmetology school and opened her own beauty shop in the Whitesand community, a career spanning over 40 years. "Miss Helen", as she was fondly known by the many that loved her, treated every customer as if they were family. Miss Helen was also known as a great cook, and will be remembered for such favorites as chicken and dumplings and other dishes. In addition, her talent in the kitchen led her to another career, and that was preparing all the desserts at the Country Fisherman Restaurant in Prentiss. People came from the community and surrounding areas to delight themselves in her masterful creations. Mrs. McRaney was also very active member of Whitesand Baptist Church, serving as a church hostess for many years, where she always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a loving heart.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Scott McRaney; daughter Leslie Ann Harman and son Scott McRaney; granddaughter Alyssa Jewel Harman; sisters, Elizabeth Shows and Peggy Tuma; and brothers Ernest Melvin Lee, Calvin Lee, and Glenn Lee.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter Ravan Pulliam (James) of Clinton; sister, Margaret Jones of Vicksburg; brother, David Lee (Sherry) of New Hebron; daughter-in-law, Gloria McRaney of New Hebron;  grandchildren Lindsey Vaughn (Ben), Morgan Cook (J.P.), and Kayla Martin (Cody), and great-grandchildren Jase, Gage, Audrey, Landyn, and Jameson. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
