Gladys Broome Tyrone

Mrs. Gladys Broome Tyrone, age 90, of Birmingham, AL, formerly of Carson, MS, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the St. Vincent Hospital-East in Birmingham, AL. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Tyrone Cemetery in Prentiss, MS. A memorial service will be held the following morning, Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Prentiss Baptist Church. Friends and family may gather beginning at 10:30 AM at the church. Gladys Broome Tyrone was born on June 17, 1932 in Carson, MS, to Andrew Claude and Zudia McPhail Broome. In 1953, Mrs. Tyrone and her late husband, Frank H. Tyrone, moved to Birmingham, AL, where they raised a family of four children and had a wonderful life. Mrs. Tyrone was the secretary at Lakewood Baptist Church, where she was also a member. Among her pastimes, she enjoyed sewing and playing piano, but her greatest passions were her church and her family. After retirement, Mrs. Tyrone especially enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally with family. Together, they enjoyed visiting destinations such as London, Paris, and Australia. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Tyrone was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Tyrone; both her parents; 4 brothers, Ellis Broome, Charles Broome, Dennis Broome, Harmon Broome; her sister, Nell Hannaford and a grandson, Shaun Stapleton. Her memory will forever be cherished by her sons, John H. Tyrone of Birmingham, AL, James C. Tyrone (Nancy) of Ashburn, VA; daughters, Mary Frances Tyrone Magdalenski (Steve) of Birmingham, AL, Martha E. Tyrone of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Algie Broome (Sheila) of Madison, MS, Ken Broome (Ann) of Carson, MS, Carroll Broome (Marion) of Peachtree City, GA; sister, Janice Davis (George) of Hattiesburg, MS. Her legacy will also live on through her grandchildren, Carey Brown, Kimberly Prestley (Joey), Kaydi Heareth (Joe), Virginia Yozwiak (Adam); great-grandchildren, Jersi Quick, Colby Quick, Amelia Yozwiak, James Yozwiak and a great-great grandson, Hayes Chambers.
