Funeral services for Mr. Parker Langston will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday morning, April 25, 2024, at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel with interment following in the Arm Cemetery. The Reverend Josh Morea will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Eddie Dempsey. Mr. Langston, age 77, entered the eternal rest of his Lord Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Merit Health-Rankin Medical Center in Brandon. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home; friends may also call Thursday, beginning at 8:00 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Langston will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Jesse Sutton, Mike Houston, Harold Everett, Parker Langston, David Bridgers and Lucious Daughtry. Honorary pallbearers include Michael Beasley, Billy Howell, Sam Valentine and employees of Moore-Handley, Inc.
Mr. Parker Langston was born on November 2, 1946 in Lawrence County to Fred and Theresa Bourn Langston. Mr. Langston, a life-long resident of Lawrence County, attended school at Oakvale and graduated from Monticello High School. Throughout his career, He served as a sales representative for the Moore-Handley Corporation and Orgill Corporation. Even after retiring, he continued to work tirelessly for Indiana Transport in Elkhart, Indiana, where he traveled the country pulling campers. Mr. Langston's strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he did.
One of his favorite pastimes was working with his cows and riding on his Kubota Tractor; in addition he also enjoyed spending long days "piddling" from sun-up to sun-down, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Mr. Langston's devotion to his family was unparalleled. His greatest pride was his grandson and namesake, Parker, whom he cherished as his best friend. He made sure to be involved in every aspect of his grandson's life, whether it was attending ballgames or school functions. His unconditional love and support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Langston was a man known for his willingness to help others. He had a kind heart and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many. His strong faith was evident in his commitment to the Arm Baptist Church, where he formerly served as chairman of deacons as well as other areas of service to his Lord. Additionally, Mr. Langston dedicated himself to serving as a past chief of the Arm Volunteer Fire Department and also, overseeing the Arm Cemetery. Parker Langston will be remembered for his integrity, compassion, and dedication to his community. His impact will continue to be felt by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that he has left behind a lasting legacy of love and kindness.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Langston is preceded in death by his first wife of over 43 years and mother of his children, Carol Ann Stephens Langston in 2010.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 6 years, Rita D Langston of Silver Creek; his son, Brian (Sandi) Langston of Brandon; his daughter, Dana Langston of Gluckstadt; a step-daughter, Morgan Dollar of Gluckstadt and his grandson, Parker Langston of Brandon.
