Elizabeth Brinson

Graveside funeral rites for Mrs. Elizabeth Brinson will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at the Prentiss Cemetery. Mrs. Brinson was 82 years of age and passed away from this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, in Prentiss. The Reverend Dr. French Tripp will officiate. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Martha Elizabeth “Liz” Polk Brinson was born on August 22, 1937, in Columbia to Felder Harper Polk and Lou Elaine Lowe Polk. Mrs. Brinson was a graduate of Prentiss High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Mrs. Brinson served as an educator in the Marion, Lawrence, Jefferson Davis, and Prentiss Christian Schools for 38 years before retiring in 1998. In retirement Mrs. Brinson enjoyed traveling, making frequent trips to the Mississippi Gulf Coast with her husband and family. She attended sporting and school events, especially those of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brinson enjoyed spending time at home with her family and her dogs. Mrs. Brinson was a member of the Prentiss Baptist Church. Preceding Mrs. Brinson in death were her mother and father; her husband of 62 years, Hector Brinson; 2 brothers, John Jennings and Bob Jennings; and 1 sister, Faye Jennings Blanton. Survivors include her 2 sons, Hector Harper Brinson (Deborah) of Prentiss, and Richard Scott Brinson (Demarla) of Hattiesburg; 5 grandchildren, Allison Brinson Rayburn (Cliff), Whitney Nelson (Zach), Lauren Brinson Byrd (Joe), Richard Cort Brinson, and Chandler Harper Brinson; 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor Elizabeth Rayburn, Connor Marshall Rayburn, Ross Bryant Rayburn, Riggs Scott Brinson, and Pheobe Catherine Robinette; and 1 sister, Fran Lane of Prentiss; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
