Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery in Bassfield. Father Chinnappa Raj Mark will officiate. Mrs. Cavanaugh, age 76, passed away late Monday evening, February 21, 2022, at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Saulters Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Earnestine Cavanaugh was born on June 22, 1945, in Lambert, Mississippi to Delma Edward and Julia Grace Radford Fiveash. The handsome George Cavanaugh took his beloved BirdieD to be his bride in 1964 and they enjoyed over 57 years of marriage; together they raised a beautiful family and made many happy memories. "Cissie", as she was affectionately called, worked for many years as a seamstress at Southern Shirt Factory. She was very crafty and had several hobbies which included sewing, crocheting, needle point and smocking. She also enjoyed reading and was skillful at upholstery. Known as a great cook, her family will remember not only her coleslaw, but especially her cornbread. Because Cissie was hearing impaired, her involvement in conversations and interaction with others was limited. However, with the dawning of social media and the debut of Facebook, a whole new world was opened up to her. Many were the hours Cissie spent on Facebook in conversation with friends and family, of which she loved every minute. It is also notable that a determined Cissie also taught herself to play the piano. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 57 years, George Cavanaugh of Bassfield; 2 daughters, Gracie Cavanaugh Beech (Artie) of Sumrall, Kay Cavanaugh of Collins; 2 sons, Edward "Ed" Cavanaugh and George Ray "Coconut" Cavanaugh, both of Bassfield; 3 brothers, Ray Fiveash of Purvis, Delma Eugene Fiveash of Carnes and Will Fiveash of Wiggins. The legacy of their MawMaw will also live on through her grandchildren; they include, Shane Berry, Seth Aultman, Reagan Beech, Jason McPhail, Sarah Camp, Anna Harvison, Dylan Cavanaugh, Billy "Wild Bill" Cavanaugh, Jacob Cavanaugh, Brandon Grubb, Trey Nichols, Jessica Smith, Ronnie Smith, Riley Smith, Zetta Foshee, Zaylin Foshee and 8 great-grandchildren. A Wake will be held on Wednesday evening, February 23, 2022; the calling hours are from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at St. Peters Parish Hall.
