David Sidney McRaney

Memorial services for Mr. David Sidney McRaney will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Saulters McRaney Cemetery, 289 Saulters Road, Prentiss, MS. Casual attire is requested. Mr. McRaney, age 60, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord early Wednesday morning, November 30, 2022, in Jefferson Davis County, MS. Reverend Michael Evans will officiate a memorial service at a later date. David Sidney McRaney was born on February 28, 1962 to Colon and Juaness Hutchinson McRaney. After graduating from Bassfield High School, David worked several years for Brown and Root Industrial Services and The Fontaine Company (now the Warren Company). Afterwards, David would begin his public service career with Jefferson Davis County, working for Supervisor Bennie Polk. For nearly 20 years, he served the citizens of Jefferson Davis County, Beat 3 and Beat 4, of which the last ten years he was the Road Foreman. David will be remembered as a "Gentle Giant" who never met a stranger and could always be counted on. He loved his family very much and was his father's primary caregiver when he became sick. Whether it was helping a neighbor fix a car or siphoning gas out of his own car to help a stranger on the side of the road, David had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone at anytime. One of David's favorite past times was hunting deer and squirrels. David was truly loved by all that knew him; his absence will be felt in our community. David was of the Baptist faith. David was preceded in death by his parents, Colon and Jauness McRaney and a brother, Marlon McRaney. His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of 19 years, Melissa Stewart of the Clem community; 3 sons, Brandon (Hannah) McRaney of Magee, Bradley (Samantha) Haas of Seminary, Sidney Hayden Stewart of Clem and his brother, Mark McRaney of Tylertown. The legacy of their "PawPaw David" will also live on through his grandchildren, David Landon Cole McRaney, Stella McRaney and a grandchild to be born in May of 2023.
