Daisy Hutchinson Coulter

Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Hutchinson Coulter will be conducted at 2:00 Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Victory Baptist Church with interment following in Double Church Cemetery. Dr. Nathan Barber will officiate, assisted by Rev. Mike Wade. Brother James Walters will officiate the graveside service. Mrs. Coulter, age 88, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord Wednesday afternoon, November 16, 2022, at the Covington County Hospital in Collins, MS. The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 18, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Danny Beasley, Kerby Evans, Trent Hanegan, Dr. Martin Harvey, William King, Hilton Wade, Carl Wade and Hal Bullock. Daisy Hutchinson Coulter was born on June 23, 1934 in Covington County, MS to Rufus and Hassie Evans Hutchinson. After graduating as Salutatorian from Williamsburg High School, where she played on the girls' basketball team, she worked as an abstractor in Mobile, AL. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Coulter began her career as a bookkeeper. For over 30 years, she was employed by the Fortenberry Lumber Company in Bassfield, and also with the King Lumber Company in Bassfield, where she retired last January after 10 years of service. During her career, Mrs. Coulter also worked in the floral business for several years. Family and friends, alike, will remember the beautiful flowers that Mrs. Coulter grew in her yard. She took great pride in tending them and making lovely bouquets for everyone to enjoy. She and her late husband of 65 years, James, also raised a garden, producing a bountiful harvest inwhich she would can the produce from. In addition, Mrs. Coulter was a great cook, often getting requests for her cornbread dressing and also her dumplings when there was a church dinner. She was also a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she served her Lord faithfully as a teacher for the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and as a member of the Hostess Committee. Mrs. Coulter was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. Mrs. Coulter was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Hassie Hutchison; husband, James E. Coulter; son, Mark Coulter and sisters, Montee Wade and Mignon Beasley. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Belinda Coulter Dowdy (Jerry) of Collins; her daughter-in-law, Jenny Coulter (the late Mark Coulter) of Collins and a sister, Katherine Ady of Laurel; The legacy of their Nana will also live on through her grandchildren; Tristan Coulter (finace' Jordan Dunaway) of Liberty, Evan Coulter (finance' Hannah Reed) of Alabaster, AL, Gaylan Gentry (A.J.) of Bassfield; step-grandson, Brandon Dowdy (Jessica) of Florence; step-granddaughter, Tricha Davis (Jeffery) of Florence and step-great-grandchildren, Maddix, Zoey, Ella Rose, Magnolia and Sunny Dowdy; Adeline, Hayden and Presley Davis.
