Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Claudine Brasswell Cortner will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Indianola City Cemetery Mrs. Cortner passed away from this life on Friday, April 26, 2019 in Prentiss.  Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Claudine Brasswell Cornter was born on November 19, 1931 in Holly Ridge, MS, to Anderson L. Brasswell and Lorraine Turner Brasswell. She was a retired grocer, having owned her own grocery store for many years. Mrs. Cortner was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Indianola. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Karl E. Cortner; her son, Larry Hodges; 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include 3 daughters, Pat Evans of Prentiss, Renee Lovett (Mike) and Karlene Strayer (Larry), all of Brandon; 7 grandchildren, Jabo Evans (Tami), Kris Evans (Cabrina), Jonathan Evans (Allison), Kaeley Lovett, Dylan Lovett, Zach Lovett, and Mandy Ulrickson (Joey); 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorials to the ASPCA at Post Office Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929.
