Funeral services for Mr. Noel Byron Holmes will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday morning, September 04, 2023, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Cliburn Cemetery. Brother Larry Davis will officiate. Mr. Holmes, age 65, passed away Tuesday evening, August 29, 2023, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Byron will be carried to his final rest by his pallbearers Kenny LeBoeuf, Steve Cliburn, Matt Cliburn, Dustin Cliburn, Casey Smith, Cody Smith, Cliff Thomas and Josh Turnage. Honorary Pallbearers include David Cliburn and William Bass.
The family will receive friends Monday morning at Saulters Moore Funeral Home, 2 hours prior to the service from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Noel Byron Holmes was born on May 30, 1958 in Prentiss to Noel Webster and Dorothy Cliburn Holmes. Raised in Silver Creek, Byron attended school in New Hebron and High School in Monticello. He retired after many years with the GNB Exide Battery Company in Florence. Byron was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time hunting and fishing. Another of his past times that he thoroughly enjoyed was Dirt Track Racing. Byron made many happy memories traveling from place to place every weekend to not only watch the races but to do what made him happiest-laughing and spending time with family and friends. His family remarks that he would do anything for anyone and that he especially adored children. He attended Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Described by someone as "An angel that walked among us that blessed everyone he came in contact with", Noel Byron Holmes was a shining example that good men still exist.
Byron was preceded in death by his father, Noel Webster Holmes and his step-father and mother, Milton and Dorothy Sills.
His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Mandy Foreman (Kenny) of Ocean Springs, Stacie Fitzsimmons (Gregory) of Memphis, TN, Hope Cummins (Roy) of Kosciusko; sons, Scott Duncan (Emily) of Brookhaven, Trent Costilow (Chasaty) of Pearl; sisters, Darlene Rawling of Prentiss, Carol Feyh of Gulfport, Linda Turnage of Silver Creek, Millie Guthrie of Richland, Terri Sadler of Tallahassee, FL, Linda King of Houston, TX , his brother, Wesley Holmes of Oklahoma and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
