Brenda Grant Mitchell was born on January 12, 1945 in Raleigh, Mississippi to William Frederick and Emma Frances Martin Grant.  A graduate of Capital High School in Jackson, she worked with the Mississippi Department of Transportation as the secretary for Road Side Development.  Brenda and her sweetheart, George, were married on September 30, 1966 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage.  Mrs. Mitchell will be remembered as one who was very creative and loved to decorate not only the inside of her home, but also her yard for each season.  Despite not having children of her own, "Aunt Brenda”, as she was affectionately called by many, had a heart that overflowed with love for her nieces and nephews. She embraced them as if they were her very own, forever leaving an indelible mark on their lives. Memories of Aunt Brenda hold a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews.  Her nieces, especially, recall those exhilarating moments spent in her closet, playing dress-up and stepping into the world of imagination while adorning her high heel shoes. While their mothers watched over them with careful eyes, ensuring good manners prevailed, Aunt Brenda reveled in the joyous laughter that filled those childhood playdates.  Aunt Brenda's nurturing spirit was boundless. She possessed a unique ability to make each child feel seen, heard, and loved."  As we bid farewell to Brenda Mitchell, we celebrate her remarkable journey and cherish the memories she gifted us.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell is preceded in death by her sisters, Judy Grant Ezell, Carolyn Grant Ainsworth and her brother, William Hall Grant.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her beloved husband, George Wesley Mitchell of Crystal Springs; sister, Winifred Harris of Ocean Springs; her aunts, JoAnn Bucklew of Laurel, Julia Grant Fraser of Conway, AR and a host of nieces and nephews.
