Billy E. Raynes

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Raynes will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Greens Creek Baptist Church in Carson. Mr. Raynes, 82, passed away from this life Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Hattiesburg Health & Rehab Center in Hattiesburg. Reverend Bob Burge will officiate and interment with military honors will be in the Greens Creek Cemetery. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Gary Fortenberry, Joe Fortenberry, Shane Kilby, William King, Brent McRaney and Doug Thornton. Billy Edward Raynes was born June 7, 1936 in Jefferson Davis County, MS to Elisha Franklin Raynes and Nannie McMellan Raynes. Mr. Billy Raynes was an Army Veteran and he was a carpenter.  He worked at the Stennis space center and also construction. He was a member of Greens Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; wife, Eva Raynes; two brothers, Scott and Clyde Raynes; three sisters, Louise Curry, Virginia Fortenberry and Ruby Joyce Wisman. Mr. Raynes is survived by his three sisters, Bobbie Jean Smith of Carson, Bonseal “Bonnie” King of Carson and Janice Bettencourtt of Macon, GA; one step grandson, Shane Kilby (Dee Dee) of Florence, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, October 22, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at Greens Creek Baptist Church before the service.
