Barbara Broome

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Elaine (Martin) Broome will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Green’s Creek Baptist Church.  Mrs. Broome, age 74, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at home. Barbara Elaine (Martin) Broome was born on October 19, 1944 in Carson, MS to James Harlon Martin and Delphia Mae (Dyess) Martin.  She graduated from Bassfield High School in 1962 and attended Cosmetology school and opened and operated her own shop and maintained her license for 50 years.  She drove for the Jefferson Davis County School District as a bus driver for Bassfield Schools for 25 years. She was a member of Green’s Creek Baptist Church and a faithful servant for the Lord.  She was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Broome was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her husband, Jerry Warren Broome. Mrs. Broome is survived by 1 son, Jeffrey Warren Broome (Sarah) of Prentiss, MS; 1 daughter, Stephanie Elaine Broome Cheaney of Ames, IA; 5 grandchildren, Joshua Broome, Justin Broome, Jonathan Tyler Broome, Katherine Cheaney, and Sean Cheaney; 1 brother, Kenneth Martin; 2 sisters, Shirley Roberts of Mt. Olive, MS, Jeannette Copeland (Jerry) of Ellisville, MS; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation is Friday, January 11, 2019 from 10:30 until 11:30 am at Green’s Creek Baptist Church.  Lunch will be provided by Green’s Creek Baptist Church from 12:30 until 1:30 pm. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Eddie Hartfield and Reverend Bob Burgess. Interment will be in Green’s Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Jerry Barrett, Ricky Barrett, Greg McRaney, Anthony Stuart, Lewis Stuart and Fred Worthy. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Martin, Daniel Martin, Michael Martin, Marty Copeland, Ronnie Copeland, and James Roberts. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
