Funeral services were held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for Mr. David Sherman, age 80, of New Hebron, MS who passed away December 16, 2010 at his residence in New Hebron. Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Rev. Phillip Douglas officiated. Saulters Moore Funeral Service of Prentiss was in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were Johnny Anderson, James Ray Cliburn, Jerome Hearn, Craig Priest, Scott Taylor and Bill Scott. William David Sherman was born on October 11, 1930 in Silver Creek, MS. He was the son of L. W. Sherman Jr. and Julie Fortenberry Sherman. He owned and operated Sherman’s 66 Truck Stop, G & D Poultry & Produce and T. P. Trucking. He was also a former Constable in Simpson County, Beat 4. He was a farmer and a truck driver. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Sherman is survived by a daughter, Tricia Matthews (Mack) of New Hebron; four sons, Danny Sherman of New Hebron and Rickie Lynn Sherman (Deborah) of Pearl, MS, Dickie Ray Sherman (Alice) of Crowley, LA and Lawrence Sherman of Houston, TX; twenty seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren; a sister, Rebecca Tullos and a brother, Harold Dan Sherman both of Mendenhall. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys Sherman, a son and a sister.
