Lillie Cole Berry Holyfield was born in the Bridgeport Community in Simpson County, on April 8, 1913 to Walter and Naomi Little Berry. Lillie Cole married Robert Holyfield on October 22, 1932 and moved to Shivers where she lived for the last 64 years. She worked at New Hebron Manufacturing Co. for 30 years. She was a very active member of Shivers Baptist Church, serving on numerous committees, helping with VBS, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. During her later years, she was unable to attend church as much as she liked, but was always interested in what was going on and had an opinion about things. Lillie Cole had a wonderful personality and never met a stranger. She loved going on trips and seeing other parts of the country. She always had many beautiful flowers in her yard and on the porch, where she loved to sit and watch the cars and trucks go by and wondered where they were going. Lillie Cole will be missed not only by her family, but by the many people whose lives she touched. Mrs. Holyfield is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Carolyn Holyfield Weems and husband, David of Shivers, MS; a grandson, Joey Reeves of Jackson, MS; great-granddaughter, Hannah Reeves Perish and husband, Tony of Byram, MS and great grandson, Blake Reeves of Brandon, MS and their mother, Beth Hanna of Bolton, MS; great-great grandsons, Conner Perish of Byram, MS and Rigdon Davis Reeves of Brandon, MS and many nieces, nephews and friends.
