Funeral services were held Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Whitesand Baptist Church in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Charles E. Lee Sr., age 79, who passed away November 15, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Jackson. Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Rev. Anthony Lay officiated. Pall bearers were Ronnie Bagwell, Chris Bagwell, Jordan Lee, Jeremy Lee, Matthew Fitzhugh and Jonathan Fitzhugh. Charles Everett Lee, Sr. was born December 5, 1930 in Prentiss, MS. He was the son of Wilburn and Myrtis Lee. Mr. Lee served in the US Air Force for 4 years and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served the Jackson Police Department for thirty nine years, retiring in 1998 with the rank of Deputy Chief. Mr. Lee was a member of Midway Baptist Church of Jackson for more than 50 years. He served his church family as a deacon and Sunday School Director. Mr. Lee was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. Mr. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mildred Lee of Jackson, MS; a son, Chuck Lee (Lilli) of Crystal Springs, MS; two daughters, Lynette Martin of Providence, RI and Diann Fitzhugh (Danny) of Terry, MS; eight grandchildren and one great grandson; two brothers, Myron Lee (Dot) of New Hebron, MS and James Lee (Shirley) of Long Beach, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Barbara Bagwell.
