Maydene Slater

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at New Hebron Baptist Church for Mrs. Maydene Slater, age 89, of New Hebron, MS who passed away November 13, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Interment followed at New Hebron Cemetery. Rev. Derek Lambert officiated. Saulters Moore Funeral Service of Prentiss was in charge of arrangements. Lula Maydene Slater was born December 15, 1920 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of Vurnley Grubbs and Etta Westmoreland Grubbs. She had worked with Universal Manufacturing in Mendenhall and in the garment industry at Crystal Springs and New Hebron. She was a member of New Hebron Baptist Church. Mrs. Slater is survived by her sons, Charles B. Slater of New Hebron, MS and Roger Slater of Waleska, GA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Glynn Grubbs of New Hebron, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Berry Slater, a sister and a brother.
