Funeral services were held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church in Mt. Olive, MS for Mr. William “Bill” Leonard, age 82, of Mt. Olive, MS who passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 14, 2010. Interment followed in Oakvale Cemetery in Covington County. Rev. Joe Gardner officiated. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled the arrangements. Pallbearers were Joe Leonard, Mark Leonard, John Stewart, Tommy Bryant, Dean Bryant, Chris Brister, Danny Waldrop and Ben Douglas. Honorary pallbearers were Homer Powell, Dr. Joe Johnston, Dr. Word Johnston, Mitchell Roberts, Tommy B. Rogers, Jimmy Baggett, Covington County Board of Supervisors and Officers of Presbyterian Church. William Garland Leonard, better known as Bill, was born June 27, 1928 to Wade E. Leonard and Icy Frank Stewart Leonard. He worked at the Mt. Olive Bank for 20 years and served as Beat 4 Supervisor, in Covington County for 16 years. He was a Farmer, Cattleman, a Mason, and a Navy Korean War Veteran. Mr. Leonard is survived by two brothers: Sam Leonard and W.E. “Joe Joe” Leonard, both of Mt. Olive, MS and a sister Jean Bryant of Collins, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents.
