Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield, MS for Mr. Denzel Ray Delancey, age 77, of Laurel, MS who died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Southeast Regional Hospital in Laurel. Father Mike Thornton officiated. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bryan Johnson, Terry Deas, John Delancey, Gary Delancey, Dwayne Delancey and Alex Tucker. Denzel Ray Delancey was born August 18, 1932. He was the son of Hulon and Helen Turnage Delancey. He worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Baroid Drilling Company. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Laurel, MS. Mr. Delancey is survived by his wife, Deloris Johnson Delancey of Laurel; five daughters, Theresa Wells & husband, Greg of Soso, MS; Elaine Haven of Puckett, MS; Annette Johnson Hall and husband, Johnny; Tammy Parker and husband Curtis; and Tianda Harper, all of Laurel; one son, David Delancey of Stringer, MS; one brother, Billy Delancey of Bassfield; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
