Funeral services were held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Edward “Ed” Long, age 67, of Prentiss, MS who passed away May 2, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS. Interment followed at Brady Cemetery. Dr. French Tripp and Rev. Glen Howell officiated. Pall bearers were Randy Stamps, Kelly Barnes, Shelly Barnes, Tommy Bass, Billy Parish and Marty Beck. Mr. Edward Lee Long was born October 31, 1942 in Morton, MS. He was the son of Austin William Long and Christine Henry Long. He attended Puckett High School and graduated from MS College School of Law. He was an attorney in Prentiss for twenty years and also served as the City Judge and County Prosecutor. He had also worked for several years with Farm Bureau as an adjuster. He was a member of Homewood Methodist Church. Mr. Long is survived by his fiancée, Beverly Jackson of Bassfield, MS; his mother, Christine Sexton of Tuscaloosa, AL; three sons, Jason Long of Mendenhall, MS, Brock Long of Prentiss, MS and Elliott Long of Oxford, MS; two grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Tierce of Tuscaloosa, AL, Carolyn Merritt of Leighton, Al, Opal Brand of Poteau, OK; one brother, Wally Sexton of Santa Claus, IN.
