Doris M Stafford

Funeral services were held Friday, March 19, 2010 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Doris Mae Stafford, age 79, of Prentiss, MS who passed away March 16, 2010 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at Carson Cemetery. Rev. L. C. Anthony officiated. Pall bearers were Russell McPhail, Denvil McPhail, Butch Heiden, James Smith, Bill Stafford and Lyn Holloway. Mrs. Doris Mae Stafford was born May 18, 1930 in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Bob Yates and Lois Boleware Yates. She worked as a clerk for the Jefferson Davis County Tax Assessor for more than twenty five years before retiring. She was a member of Carson Baptist Church. Mrs. Stafford is survived by two sons, Bobby Stafford (Anna) of Carson, MS and Richard Stafford of Sanford, MS; two daughters, Alma Laird (Duel) of Tylertown, MS and Betty Parish of Carson, MS; three brothers, Kenny Yates of Hattiesburg, MS, Larue Yates of Pearl, MS, and Gerald Yates of Jackson, MS; three sisters, Irene Thompson of Slidell, LA, Hilda Hesler of Baytown, TX and Hazel Acres of Pearl, MS; eight grandchildren, Lori Stafford Myers and Michael Stafford, Jamie and Nicole Stafford, Melissa Laird Dillon and Everett Laird, and Jessica Parish Shumaker and Kenny Parish; and four great grandchildren, Montgomery and Makinley Dillon, Cody King and Ethan Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Loran Stafford and a brother, Joe Yates.
