Jean Robbins Herring

Funeral services were held Friday, February 26, 2010 at Society Hill Baptist Church in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Jean Robbins Herring, age 73, of Oakvale, MS who passed away February 24, 2010. Internment followed at the Society Hill Cemetery. Rev. Chad Carney, Rev. L. C. Anthony and Rev. Eddie Myers officiated. Pall bearers were Damon Roberts, Jack Ward, Russell McAllister, Josh McAllister, Larry Williamson and Joel Greenwood. Mrs. Ila Lougenia “Jean“ Robbins Herring was born on May 28, 1936 in Jefferson Davis County, MS. She was the daughter of James and Alice Robbins. She worked as a waitress for the Western Corral for 14 years, was the owner of the Country Kitchen in Silver Creek and had worked with Edward Hyman Manufacturing. She was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Herring is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jenkins of Silver Creek; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby McAllister of Oakvale, MS, Kay Fortenberry of Columbia, MS and Marie Greenwood of Pearl, MS; two brothers, James G. Robbins of Carson, MS and Oscar Ray Robbins of Pearl River, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.
