Douglas Wiley Burkett

Memorial services will be held at later date for Mr. Douglas W. Burkett, age 67, of Bassfield, MS who passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at his residence in Bassfield, MS. Mr. Douglas Wiley Burkett was born on September 20, 1942 in Louisiana. He was the son of Claude Leland Burkett and Tressye Stewart Burkett. He graduated from USM. He later retired after working for many years in Law Enforcement and was a former Chief of Police in Bassfield. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Viet Nam War. He was a Helicopter Pilot during the Viet Nam War. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Burkett is survived by his daughter, Jenni G. Broome of Mobile, AL and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Debbie Burkett and his brother.
