Funeral services were held Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Jeanette Holmes, age 83, who passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss, MS. Interment followed at Prentiss Cemetery. Rev. Ben James officiated. Serving as Pallbearers were, Sam Adcock, Mike Baughman, Wesley Daughdrill, Scotty Goodloe, Robert Jones, David Miller, Robert Miller, Cecil Polk and Bill Whittington. Honorary Pallbearers were the ladies of Alla Faye Fike’s Bible Class of Prentiss Baptist Church. Lydia Jeanette Holmes was born on December 30, 1926 in Covington County, MS. She was the daughter of Joseph Presley McRaney and Willie Mae Loftin McRaney. She worked as a clerk with Jitney Jungle, Sunflower and Emmitt Smith Market in Prentiss. She was also the secretary of James Holmes Plumbing Company. She was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church and loved working in her yard. Mrs. Holmes is survived by her son, Ken Holmes of Brandon; two daughters, Linda Burdine (Fred) of Monticello and Janice Bridges (Keith) of Prentiss; four grandchildren, Jennifer Adcock of Brookhaven, Robin Atwood of Madison, Hank Holmes of Huntsville, AL and Jessica Bridges of Prentiss; four great grandchildren and two sisters, Presley Mae Miller of Prentiss and Joyce Jones of Brandon. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Holmes.
