Funeral services were held Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Gladys L. Shoemaker, age 75, of New Hebron, MS who passed away January 22, 2010 at her residence. Internment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Rev. Charles Burnham and Mr. Glenn Higdon officiated. Pall bearers were Kevin Stuckey, Todd Stuckey, Jay McBrain, Kevin Temple, Josh Lee and Jakob Utsey. Honorary pall bearer was Kiddo Bare Bridges. Mrs. Gladys L. Shoemaker was born on August 18, 1934 in Simpson County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of N. G. Higdon and Annie Lou Roberts Higdon. She worked with New Hebron Manufacturing and KLH Industries. She also worked as a waitress at the Jeffersonian Restaurant and most recently as a homemaker. She was a member of Whitesand Baptist Church. Her survivors include her son, Stevie Bridges of New Hebron; her daughters, Linda Green of New Hebron and Gena McBrain of Clinton; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one brother, Glenn Higdon of Magee and one sister, Frances Grubbs of Mt. Olive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters, Hazel Luper and Ruthie Parker.
