Lula Mae McGaughey

Funeral services were held at Whitesand Baptist Church Saturday, December 26, 2009, for Lula Mae Bridges McGaughey, age 89, who died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Magee General Hospital in Magee, MS. Rev. Charles Burnham, Rev. Buddy Keys, and Mitchell Roberts officiated. Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Mitchell Roberts, Billy Bridges, Thomas McAlpin, Danny Dearman, Josh Smith, and Eddie Lyons. Mrs. McGaughey was a life long resident of Prentiss, MS. She worked for many years in the Chancery Clerk’s office in Jefferson Davis County. She also worked for Lester Witcher Abstracting Company. She was a faithful member of Whitesand Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Ms. Lula enjoyed working in her flowers and sharing them with others. She was also a gifted artist. Survivors includes two sisters: Leona McAlpin of Magee, MS, and Christine Jenkins of Pearl, MS; one brother, Grady Bridges of Prentiss, MS. She also leaves 13 devoted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dora Bridges; husband, Noel McGaughey, and son, Neil McGaughey, and one brother.
