Eleanor H. Thompson

Funeral services were held Monday, December 21, 2009 at Bassfield Baptist Church for Eleanor Hannah Thompson, age 88, who died at her residence in Bassfield on Friday, December 18, 2009. Rev. Chris Wheeler and Rev. Ken Roberts officiated. Interment followed in Bassfield Cemetery. Pall bearers were Brad Thompson, Eric Stein, Douglas Stein, Gregory Stein, Norman Williamson, and Michael Thompson. Mrs. Thompson worked for years in the banking business, first in Columbia and then at the local bank in Bassfield until she retired. A member of Bassfield Baptist Church, she served as Church Treasurer and Church Hostess. She is survived by a son, Rick Thompson and wife Gloria, of Bassfield; a daughter, Sue Stein and husband Calvin, of Kenner, LA; five grandsons and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John W. Thompson; her parents, William O. Hannah and Zula Brown Hannah; a brother and a sister. Memorials may be sent to Forrest General Hospice, 1414 S. 28th Ave. Hattiesburg, MS 39402, in memory of Eleanor H. Thompson.
