Funeral services were held Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home Chapel for Cecil E. Bayles, age 81, of Prentiss, who died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Rev. L.C. Anthony and Rev. Robert Sones officiated. Interment followed in Dublin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger McNease, David Bayles, Mike Bayles, Danny Quick, Doug Bayles, and Ray Meese. Junior pallbearers were Kyle Bayles, Joseph Amato, Christian Ainsworth and Dalton Magee. Honorary Pallbearers were the Deacons of Dublin Baptist Church. Cecil Erman Bayles was born on June 12, 1928 in Copiah County, Mississippi. He was the son of Sam M. Bayles Sr. and Commie McKenzie Bayles. Mr. Bayles served as a US Marine for 21 years and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a carpenter and manager at Jeff Davis Farmers Co-Op for 26 years. Mr. Bayles was presently in his 2nd term as Justice Court Judge of Jefferson Davis County and had served as a Court Baliff. He was very active in the community, serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board, member of the Prentiss Lions Club and a Mason. He was an active member, deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Dublin Baptist Church. Mr. Bayles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather brother and friend. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Bayles of Prentiss; one son, Scott Bayles and wife, Melissa of Brandon; two daughters, Terri Speights of Prentiss and Sandra Amato and husband, Joe of Lutcher, LA; one brother, Henry Bayles of Carson; one sister, Billie Bayles of Monroeville, AL; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steven M. Bayles, three brothers and two sisters.
