Funeral services were held Friday, December 4, 2009 at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home Chapel for Ophie Mae Miller, age 90, of Prentiss, who died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital. Rev. Bobby Brewer, Rev. Richard Sebren, and Rev. Diana Deaton officiated. Interment followed in Carson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Sullivan, Billy Sullivan, Raymond Miller, Bobby Miller, Dale Dyess, Marty Kerley, Estus Garner, and Randy Easterling. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Thomas Holloway, Tommy Kerley, and Cecil Miller. Ophie Mae Miller was born on March 15, 1919 in Carson, MS. She was the daughter of Fate Miller and Gay Carter Miller. She worked as a clerk for Garraway’s Grocery in Prentiss for many years. She was a member of Carson United Methodist Church. She is survived by her grandson Randy Miller and wife Pam of Carson, MS; a granddaughter, Phyllis Sullivan and husband Mike of Sumrall, MS; two brothers Grover Miller of Jackson, MS and Lavell (Buck) Miller of Houston, TX; three sisters Vera Gore, Georgia Kerley, and Vonnie Jean McNease, all of Bassfield, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Phillip Miller.
