Prentiss, MS Jean Dyess Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria Jean Dyess will be held at 11:00am Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Santee Baptist Church. Mrs. Dyess, 76, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in Hattiesburg. Reverend Seth Bond and Reverend Brad Roberts will officiate and interment will be in the Santee Baptist Church Cemetery. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be B.J. Wilson, Tony Reid, John McRaney, Johnny Lee Hawthorn, and Chad Hutchinson. Jean Dyess was born November 6, 1941, in Lamar County to Woodrow Wilson Scruggs and Virgie Mae Broom Scruggs. Mrs. Dyess was a cook at the Bassfield High School. She was a member of the Santee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husbands, Johnny Ray Dyess and Mack Daniels; and 1 brother, Robert Townsend. Mrs. Jean is survived by; 1 daughter, Pamela Strack and her husband George of Bassfield; 3 sons, Wayne Dyess and his wife Machelle of Bassfield, Allen Ray Dyess and his wife Barbara of Bassfield, and J.D. Dyess and his wife Melinda of Petal; 1 sister, Dot Johnson and her husband Jan of Kokomo; 1 brother, James Townsend and his wife Carolyn of Seminary;11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, January 26, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Saulters Funeral Home. Another visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 9:00am to 11:00am at Santee Baptist Church prior to the service.
