Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Thomas “Pete” Stephens, age 84, of Silver Creek, MS who passed away November 16, 2009 at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello, MS. Internment followed at Stephens Family Cemetery in Silver Creek. Rev. Chad Carney and Rev. Robert Dunn officiated. Pall bearers were Travis Polk, Porky Stephens, Stanley Stephens, Kelly Rester, Mark Herrington and Phillip Langston. Mr. Thomas “Pete” Stephens was born on April 22, 1925 in Lawrence County, Mississippi. He was the son of Daniel Stephens and Missy Herrington Stephens. Mr. Stephens was a Truck Driver. He worked for M. D. Hales and Miles Lumber Company. He also enjoyed farming. He served in the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife, Faye Stephens of Silver Creek; two sons, Greg Stephens and Tom Stephens both of Silver Creek; four brothers, Kernis Stephens of Newhebron, B. H. Stephens of Silver Creek, Billy Stephens of Monticello, Roy Stephens of Newhebron; three sisters, Alpha Mae Reynolds of Silver Creek, Bertile Polk of Laurel, Ellisine Saulters of Prentiss; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
