Thedis B. Chance

Funeral services were held Friday, October 30, 2009 at Prentiss Baptist Church in Prentiss, MS, for Mrs. Thedis B. Chance, age 87, of Brandon, formerly of Prentiss, who passed away Monday, October 26 in Jackson, MS. Interment followed at Brady Cemetery. Rev. L. C. Anthony officiated. Pallbearers were Parker Langston, Billy Mack Brown, David Massengale, Charles Lee, William Lee, and Brian Langston. Billy Mayfield and Vic Jones were Honorary Pallbearers. Mrs. Chance was born December 7, 1921 in Lawrence County. She was the daughter of Homer and Ninnie Ward Bourn. She worked as a Payroll Clerk for the Department of Corrections for 22 years. She was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church where she sang in the Senior Adult Choir. She enjoyed Needlepoint. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Fred Chance, five sisters, one brother, and one nephew. Mrs. Chance is survived by her daughter, Sheila McCleave and husband, Burt of Brandon; three step-grandchildren and three step great- grandchildren.
