Lucy V. Hathorn

Funeral services were held Monday, October 26, 2009 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield for Mrs. Lucy V. Hathorn, age 86, of Bassfield, MS who passed away October 24, 2009 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss, MS. Internment followed at St. James Cemetery in Bassfield. Father Eappen Joseph officiated. Pall bearers were her grandsons, Clay Daley, Chris Hathorn, Ty Hathorn, Garrett Jackson, John Daley, Grant Hathorn, Kyle Hathorn, Zack Carr and Kevin McRaney. Mrs. Lucy Virginia Hathorn was born January 21, 1923. A native of Mississippi, she was the daughter of Tim Hanegan and Mary Ann Kerley Hanegan. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Hathorn is survived by her children; seven daughters, Ann Hathorn of Ellisville, Judy Carr of Flowood, Susan Hathorn of Hattiesburg, Martha Daley, Beverly Jackson and Glenda McRaney all of Bassfield and Denise Dyess of Sumrall; five sons, Willie Hathorn Jr. of Petal, Wayne Hathorn of Prentiss, Kenneth Hathorn, Jeff Hathorn and Richard Hathorn all of Bassfield; twenty eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willie A. Hathorn Sr., a son Gregory Douchard and a great grandson, Jaydon Jackson.
