Wiley Ainsworth was born in Magee, Mississippi, on August 5, 1929 and passed away on May 17, 2017 in Magee General Hospital at the age of 87. He was a graduate of Magee High School, Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Mississippi State University. An Army veteran, he served in the Third Army Paratrooper Unit. His farming operations began with a family dairy. He developed a commercial cow/calf operation, became a tree farmer and produced broilers and hogs. He also sold catfish from his ponds for retail in the Magee area. He grew a great quality of Coastal Bermuda hay for himself and his many customers. He served his community on the Board of Directors of; Farm Bureau, Trustmark National Bank, Magee Coop, Simpson County Junior Livestock Association and the Simpson County School Board. With a special interest in 4-H, he and his wife hosted a 4-H Club in their home for ten years. For many years he presented each exhibitor at the Junior Livestock Show with a silver dollar. Wiley was a faithful member of Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee, MS, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served on many committees, including the last two building projects for the church. Each year he and his wife presented silver dollars to each Bible Drill participant of Goodwater Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, Rice and Maggie McIntyre Ainsworth; his sisters, Cody Duckworth, Willie Ainsworth, Nell McCall, Myra Stringer and Lillie Maddox; and his grandson, Adam Thomas Ainsworth. Survivors include his wife of sixty one years, Rose Ainsworth; his sons, Randy Ainsworth (Janice) of Magee, MS and Dan Ainsworth (Staci) of Magee, MS; granddaughters, Rachel Ainsworth Murphy (Brendan) of Spokane, Washington and Jamie Ainsworth of Magee, MS; grandson Jordan Ainsworth of Houston, TX; one sister, Mary May of Magee, MS and many nieces and nephews, whom he also loved dearly. Visitation was on Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 8:00 AM- 11:00 AM at Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee, MS. The funeral service followed at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Michael Giles officiating. Pallbearers were: Jeremy Martin, Keith Moore, Al Nichols, David Stewart, Tommy Swarts, Marney Walker, Danny Welch and Donny Welch. Honorary pallbearers were: Men’s #3 Sunday School Class of Goodwater Baptist Church. Memorials may be directed to Goodwater Baptist Church, 1313 Goodwater Road NW, Magee, MS.
