Frank M Turnage

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Frank M. Turnage, age 94, of Prentiss, MS who passed away September 7, 2009 at his residence. Internment followed at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Rev. Diana Deaton officiated. Pall bearers were Doug Lawson, Daniel Lawson, Michael Turnage, Michael Buchanon, Richie Bourn Jr. and Robert Hunt. Mr. Frank McPhearson Turnage was born on December 10, 1914 in Jefferson Davis County, MS. He was the son of David P. Turnage and Pearl McPhearson Turnage. He retired from Southern Natural Gas Company after 32 years of service and has since enjoyed doing yard work, Ole Miss football and playing dominoes. He was an active member of Mt. Zion UMC for many years. Mr. Turnage is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Dureau “Drue” Raynes Turnage of Prentiss; son, Dr. Frank M. Turnage (Gradine) of Hattiesburg; stepdaughters, Barbara Saylor Hunt (Robert) and Vickie Saylor Buchanon (Mike) both of Pascagoula; two sisters, Sara Nell Robinson (Eddie) of Heben Springs, Arkansas and Dorothy Oaks of Orange, Texas; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a stepdaughter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery Fund, 163 Thurman Road, Prentiss, MS 39474.
