James L Davis

Military graveside services were held Monday, August 3, 2009, at Calvary Cemetery in Silver Creek, MS for James Leroy Davis, age 78, of Silver Creek who died Friday, July 31, 2009 at his residence. Bro. Tim Roberson officiated. The US Military Honor Guard served as pallbearers. Mr. Davis was born December 5, 1930 in Silver Creek and was the son of Charlie Davis and Lessie Herrington Davis. He served in the US Air Force and later transferred to the MS Army National Guard. He retired as a Supply Sergeant with the 155th Brigade in Monticello, MS. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4889 in Monticello and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Upton of Silver Creek; three sons, Jim Smith of Winter Park, FL, Jamie Davis of McComb, William Atwood of Silver Creek; two sisters, Margaret Adams of Silver Creek, Patsy Turnage of Oakvale; one brother, Joe Davis of Silver Creek; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie Davis, and brother Charlie Ray Davis.
