Toxie Evans

Funeral Services were held Monday November 7, 2016 at New Chapel United Pentecostal Church in Collins, MS for Mr. Toxie Joel Evans, age 68, of Collins, MS who passed away at his residence in Olla, LA on November 3, 2016. Interment followed in New Chapel Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled all arrangements. Rev. Ken Hickman officiated. Pallbearers were: Ray Clark, Carl Wayne, Jim Wilson, Jason Evans, Jeff Wilson, John Wilson, Clay Dunn and Carl Barkin. Toxie was born March 30, 1948 in Covington County, MS. He was the son of Palmer Evans and Myrtle Walker Evans. Throughout his life he was involved in many trades, including trapping, offshore work and truck driving, He owned and operated Evans logging and farming Co. Toxie enjoyed being outdoors. Some of his favorite past times included hunting, fishing, farming and enjoying his grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, Myrtle Evans of Jena, LA; Wife, Ruth Evans of Olla, LA; Two daughters, Tammy Lanham of Sumrall, MS and Renee Evans Curi of Virginia Beach, VA; Two step daughters, Lachrisha Fitzgerald and Michelle Evans both of Lawson, MO; Two brothers, Jerry (Verlan) Wilson and Dennis (Sue) Evans both of Jena, LA; Three sisters, Margie Wilson of Prentiss, MS, Dianne (Dennis) Clark of Hattiesburg, MS and Pam (Johnny) McNair of Pinola, MS; Nine grandchildren; A host of nieces and nephews and an abundance of “adopted” children and grandchildren He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Mickey Evans; One step daughter, Melanie Hall and one nephew, Clifford Williams. We would also like to thank every doctor, nurse and care person that assisted with the care of Mr. Toxie Evans throughout his Battle.
