Mae Neal Garner

Funeral services were held Friday, November 4, 2016 at New Hebron Baptist Church in New Hebron, MS. for Mrs. Mae Neal Garner who passed away November 1, 2016 in a personal care home in Vancleve, MS. Interment followed in New Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss, MS handled all arrangements. Rev. Mike Grinn and Rev. Tyler Chavis officiated. Pallbearers were: Jay Garner, Tim Brown, Lane Brown, Randy Sharp, Dean Banks, Ken Mayhugh, Jeff Quinn and Jimmy Parker. Honorary pallbearers were: The current and former Deacons of New Hebron Baptist Church. Mrs. Mae was born on May 29, 1929 in the Whitesand community in Jefferson Davis County to Jessie C. Lane and Mattie Fortenberry Lane. She was married to John C. Garner, Sr. and an active member of New Hebron Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Dr. John C. (Diane) Garner, Jr. of Louisville, MS and Betty (Harold) Quinn of Pascagoula, MS; grandchildren: Amy Quinn, Jeffrey Quinn, Lisa (Tim) Brown and Dr. John (Bethany) C. Garner, III; great grandchildren: Caitlin Quinn, Alex Mueller, Lane Brown, Lauren Brown and Anna Garner. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Mattie Fortenberry Lane; Husband of 31 years John C. Garner, Sr.; brothers: Hubert Lane, Tom Lane, Arnold Lane, Offie Lane, Vernon Lane, Jessie Lane, Jr.; Sisters: Devina Whitfield and Bertie Lane.
